Dr. Erik Rietveld is a senior researcher at the University of Amsterdam. He is also a founding partner of RAAAF [Rietveld Architecture-Art-Affordances]. RAAAF was curator of the Dutch Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2010, elected Dutch Architect of the Year, and won the European Prize of Architecture 2017 (Philippe Rotthier). Rietveld was a Fellow in Philosophy at Harvard University and recently became a Member of the Society of the Arts at the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. His philosophical research on affordances and skilled action was awarded with an ERC Starting Grant and a VIDI Grant by Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research. Rietveld regularly publishes in renowned international journals such as Mind, Synthese and Harvard Design Magazine.
